Network Wins UN Inter-Agency Task Force and WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care Award

The NCDI Poverty Network and other non-state actors who were recognized at the 2022 UN Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of NCDs and the WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care awards.

The NCDI Poverty Network was honored to be one of 18 organizations to receive 2022 UN Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of NCDs and WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care awards. Award winners in three categories – ministries of health, ministries beyond health, and non-state actors – were announced on 21 September 2022 during the annual meeting of the Friends of the Task Force, which took place during the UN General Assembly.

The Network was recognized for its “global contribution to generate data, implement programmes, foster multisectoral partnerships, and raise awareness to prevent and reduce the death and suffering of those doubly affected by extreme poverty and NCDs and injuries.”

Winners were chosen based on demonstrated commitment to multisectoral action in the prevention and control of NCDs, mental health, or NCD-related Sustainable Development Goals, as well as demonstrated results at the primary care level for the prevention and control of NCDs, mental health, and NCD-related SDGs.
