Phase 1 Commissions Learn From Each Other in Fifth Learning Workshop

For the first time on 25 May, NCDI Poverty Commissions that launched in 2021 and are working on Phase 1 of the Commission process – situation analysis and priority-setting – presented to other Phase I Commission teams in the fifth Learning Workshop titled “Learning from each other - progress updates from Nigeria and Cameroon.”

The event featured presentations from the Nigeria NCDI Poverty Commission and the Cameroon NCDI Poverty Commission. Mr. Andres Frambo of Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) presented on behalf of Cameroon Commission and Dr. Damilola Oko of the Health Strategy & Delivery Foundation presented on behalf of the Nigeria Commission.

As the Nigeria and Cameroon Commissions are further along in the priority-setting process than the Cambodia, Ghana, and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Commissions, they were able to provide valuable insight and guidance to newer Phase I Commission teams on how to best engage senior-level leadership and increase impact.

Twenty-six participants joined in the discussion, including the Deputy Director of Diabetes and Sickle Cell Disease Officer Dr. Alayo Yahaya from the Federal Ministry of Health in Nigeria and Cameroon Commission Co-Chair Professor Paul Ndom.
