Steering Committee
The Steering Committee held its first in-person meeting in Dar es Salaam in April 2024, following the conclusion of the International Conference on PEN-Plus in Africa. Seated, from left, are Dr. Aimée Lulebo, Eunice Owino, Dr. Ana Mocumbi, Dr. Mary Amuyunzu-Nyamongo, and Dr. Julie Makani. Standing, from left, are Dr. Neil Gupta, the Network’s senior director of policy; Dr. Biraj Karmacharya; Dr. Gene Bukhman; Dr. Yogesh Jain; Dr. Jones Masiye, and Dr. Santigie Sesay.
The Steering Committee—the NCDI Poverty Network’s primary governance body—provides oversight for the Network’s strategy, structure and composition, activities, and partnerships.
The Steering Committee includes two co-chairs, ten representatives of national NCDI Poverty Commissions, and four advocates representing people living with noncommunicable diseases in countries representing the world’s poorest billion people. The committee meets quarterly to review progress and to discuss and approve plans for future action to advance the Network’s strategic initiatives.
