The PEN-Plus team is growing! The Center for Integration Science in Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital—the Boston co-secretariat of the NCDI Poverty Network—has several open positions.


Partnerships Manager

The Partnerships Manager plays a pivotal role in growing the financial base of support for the Center for Integration Science and the NCDI Poverty Network. She/He will work to cultivate strong relationships with both new and existing donor partners, working collaboratively with CIS’ global team of technical experts to craft compelling cases for support and impact narratives for some of the largest health-focused philanthropies in the world. She/He will also play a vital role in building a more robust set of systems and internal communications within CIS to support the success of our fundraising efforts. The Partnerships Manager will report to the CIS Senior Director of Advancement.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Relationship Management

  • Manage a portfolio of ~10 organizational and individual relationships with current and prospective donors to the Center for Integration Science

  • With the Senior Director, establish internal goals annually for each donor in the portfolio, and develop targeted strategies to achieve these goals.

  • Represent NCDIPN at meetings, conferences, and events. This role will require up to 10% travel, including international travel.

Collateral and Content Development

  • Prepare donor briefs, talking points, and other materials for CIS leadership in advance of meetings and conferences

  • Write proposals, reports, emails, and presentations for donor and partner audiences. Work collaboratively with the CIS and BWH communications and development department to produce and finalize fundraising-related collateral.

  • Establish strong working relationships with the CIS programs, policy, and research team to both source and fact-check collateral intended for a donor audience.

  • Manage timely production of collateral with appropriate buy-in and approval from relevant stakeholders.

Process and System Management

  • Support the facilitation and management of monthly partnership strategy discussions with CIS leadership; and biannual meetings of the NCDI Poverty Network’s High-Level Advisory Group.

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective donors for CIS’ major initiatives, including the NCDI Poverty Network.

  • Establish a strong working knowledge of CIS’ CRM system (EveryAction)

  • With the Senior Director, serve as a primary point of contact for the BWH development team with the CIS

Qualifications:

Required

  • At least 5-7 years’ experience in nonprofit development serving in a donor-facing role. Strong working knowledge of development best practices around prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Bias for action and inclusivity. Self-directed with demonstrated track record of effective team collaboration and internal communication.

  • Strategic thinker, able to connect detailed work with the big picture and adjust accordingly

  • Effective external communicator, both verbal and written. Able to provide writing samples of donor proposals, reports, and/or other development communications upon request.

  • A passion for global health and social justice.

Preferred

  • MPH, MBA, or other relevant graduate-level training

  • Knowledge of the NCD and global health space: primary issues, major funders, convenings, and literature.

Advancement Coordinator

To accomplish its ambitious mission, the CIS provides technical, policy, advocacy, and financing support for national NCDI Poverty Commissions in Network countries as they progress through a four-phase theory of change. This theory of change starts with situation analysis and ultimately leads to the implementation of PEN-Plus at a national scale

The Advancement Coordinator plays a pivotal role driving the effectiveness and efficiency of the seven-person Advancement team, which oversees the Center for Integration Science communications, advocacy, and partnerships.  The Advancement Coordinator will report directly to the Senior Director of Advancement. Working closely with the Senior Director and Senior Coordinator, she/he will build and manage robust systems and processes for seamless constituent management and internal and external communication with key audiences; and ensure the smooth operation of the overall team. The person in this role will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of nonprofit communications and fundraising, and interact with some of the leading visionaries and organizations in global health.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Administration

  • Serve as primary liaison for Advancement team with CIS’ business management team, developing a strong working knowledge of relevant Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Mass General Brigham policies and processes.

  • Support the Senior Director with scheduling, travel, and expense reporting

  • Support the Advancement team with scheduling large group meetings, meeting logistics (recording, sharing presentations, waiting room management), copyediting, note-taking, and other administrative tasks as assigned

  • Manage organization of the Advancement team’s file infrastructure and team tools.

  • Identify and suggest new approaches to team administration and organizational norms, in support of continuous quality improvement of team systems and efficiency.

Data Management and Technology

  • Establish a strong working knowledge of CIS’ constituent database; email marketing system; translation tools; and webinar platforms. Implement these tools for CIS-hosted meetings and communications.

  • Support routine data hygiene efforts; manage a regular cadence of list pulls, review, and revisions to ensure overall accuracy of the CIS constituent database

  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive data entry for new contacts and organizations of interest to CIS

  • Identify where technology tools can automate administrative and data management workflow, where appropriate

Partner and Donor Support

  • Draft emails and agendas for partner/donor-facing communications.

  • Adapt pre-existing collateral for different donors/partners, as assigned

Qualifications:

Required

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in an administrative and/or program coordination capacity

  • Experience with CRM/database management

  • Proficient in MSOffice suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable with integrating enterprise technology into work processes

  • Attention to detail and a strategic thinker. Demonstrated ability to connect detailed work with the bigger picture and adjust accordingly

  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written

Preferred

  • Experience working with fundraising and/or communications teams and projects

  • Familiarity with the NCD and global health space

  • MPH or other related graduate-level training

Grants Administrator (Remote Eligible)

To accomplish its ambitious mission, the Center for Integration Science provides technical, policy, advocacy, and financing support for national NCDI poverty commissions in NCDI Poverty Network countries as they progress through a four-phase theory of change. This theory of change starts with situation analysis and ultimately leads to the implementation of PEN-Plus at a national scale.

The Center’s grants portfolio consists of grants valuing more than $36M for 2024–2027 with funding from various philanthropic donors. The Grants Administrator will be responsible for the management of post-award activities, including setting up new grants and management of subcontracts for a portfolio of complex grants and contracts; this primarily includes setting up and monitoring of financial and contractual processes for 30+ international subcontractors. This position will report directly to the Managing Director and work in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, the Director of Programs, and Regional Advisors to successfully manage the subcontract administrative and financial processes.

The principal responsibilities of the position are to:

  • Prepare forms and coordinate the set up of incoming grants;

  • Prepare internal forms for fund and grant set-up and work with the Research Management team to ensure the timely set-up of grants;

  • Coordinate completion of all components of the subcontract setup for up to 30 international subcontracts;

  • Manage subcontract modifications and terminations;

  • On a quarterly basis, monitor expenditures for all subcontracts and review with the Managing Director for submission of subcontract expenses to sponsors;

  • Manage communication for all subcontractors for matters related to budget management, invoices submission, processing of payments, requests for modifications;

  • Maintain close communication with the Director of Programs and Regional Advisors to provide updates on spending for all subcontractors and identify concerns with spending;

  • Train the Regional Advisors on processes involving subcontracts, budget, and invoicing, to ensure they have a working knowledge of them;

  • Proactively reach out to appropriate Regional Advisors to flag issues with invoices and subcontracts that impact timelines, have delays, need answers or clarifications from sites, using the Regional Advisors to help move things along and support the sites;

  • Develop and maintain a system where Regional Advisors can see key steps of the process and where each subcontractor sits;

  • Meet with Regional Advisors quarterly and/or during key times during the process to provide overall updates, agree on the timeline, and identify areas where they can help; and

  • Provide support for some budget analysis to liaise with Regional Advisors on such issues as budget content and spending.
