POSITION STATEMENT ON THE GLOBAL NCD AGENDA

NCDI Poverty Network Preparing Position Statement on the Global NCD Agenda Ahead of UNGA2025

In September 2025, the UN General Assembly will hold the fourth High-Level Meeting on NCDs. The NCDI Poverty Network is preparing a Position Statement to provide key guidance and recommendations for the inclusion of vulnerable populations – especially children and people living in poverty –  in the global NCD agenda.

The position statement details an alternate, specific set of policy recommendations for the NCD community to move forward in building access to health care for NCDs, in concrete ways that align with the goals and methods detailed in the 2025-2028 PEN-Plus Partnership Strategic Plan

We will develop and utilize this Position Statement throughout 2025 in the lead-up to the High-Level Meeting, to guide our advocacy and collaborations with UN delegations, NGOs, governments, funders and other stakeholders.

The NCDI Poverty Network accepted feedback on the draft statement during an open comment period in January and early February.

Please read the draft statement to learn more about our priorities and policy recommendations in this vital year for action on NCDs, and follow along for more advocacy opportunities in the months ahead.
